Staff caring for international students
Chilton Saint James School takes particular pride in the level of support offered by the staff to ensure that international students are settled in comfortable and caring homes where they can be happy to complete their studies.
All teachers at Chilton are pleased to help international students and some have specific resposibility for this important task.
Deputy Principal (International) - Mrs Judy Lang
Mrs Lang regularly visits the home countries of our international students to discuss enrolment, meet with parents where possible and better understand the needs of the girls who come to Chilton as international students.
Mrs Lang reports directly to the Principal and and she is responsible for administration, homestays, welfare, class placements, arranging insurance and visa renewals, and day to day communications. She also takes a major role in advising the Principal on policy making, pastoral care and marketing as they affect our international students.
Deans
The Year Level Deans are involved in overseeing each students progress, academically, socially, physically and culturally. They are involved in speaking regularly with the teachers of each student to be sure that she is happy and that her academic work is of high quality. The Year Level Deans are responsible for following up any student problems in consultation with senior staff.
Form Teacher
Each international student is placed in a Form Class of about 24 students. The Form Teacher makes sure that she is settled socially in the school and is making satisfactory progress.
Subject Teacher
Each international student will have five to six subject teachers. These will include specialist teachers of academic subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English as Second Language, and specialist subjects such as Business and Physical Education. It is an important part of all teachers' roles to make sure the girls are learning well in a safe and supportive learning environment so they can develop and maintain a positive attitude.
