Chilton – an International Baccalaureate World School

An International Baccalaureate World School, Chilton runs the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) throughout the Junior School from Preschool to Year 6.

The IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the IB works with schools, governments and international organisations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.  These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The IB PYP aligns comfortably with the New Zealand curriculum and our own values of lifelong learning so we are able to offer a broad, enriched programme that equips our students for success nationally and internationally.  In this respect, the IB philosophy of encouraging students to become internationally minded goes hand in hand with encouraging them to initiate their own learning through the process of inquiry.

Our class and specialist teachers model the skills and attitudes of lifelong learners as they engage in constant self-review and professional development to maintain our programmes at the cutting edge of excellence in teaching and learning.
