Programmes

It's not all work and no play at Chilton.  Opportunities to extend experiences beyond the classroom are everywhere.

Chilton After School Choirs

The Chilton After School Choirs offer superb opportunities for students to sing as they build their performing skills and confidence through fun and stimulating approaches to vocal training.

As they learn to sing a wide range of songs, from popular and show tunes to world and classical music, children increase their music literacy.  Engaging in a range of voice development, ear training and sight singing activities, they also develop presentation skills that build confidence and self-esteem.  Solo and small group singing opportunities are also available.

Both Choirs are open to boys and girls in the wider community, as well as to Chilton students.

Cherubs

The Cherubs Choir is for girls and boys aged 6 to 8 years who meet for group singing sessions to build an extensive performance repertoire.  Cherubs sing in small groups and, when they are ready, perform solo.  In addition to learning through singing games, they work on musical aspects such as rhythm, beat, inner hearing, pitch matching and sight singing. When it is appropriate, they add simple dance moves and actions as well.

Cherub singing classes are held on Mondays from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.

Brio

The Brio Choir is for girls and boys aged 9 to 12 years.  Using an extensive repertoire of popular, jazz, modern and classical music, Brio students learn to sing in two and three part harmony.  While building strong vocal technique, breathing, posture and part singing abilities, the enjoy opportunities to create, compose, conduct and play various advanced voice games.  Opportunities for small group and solo singing are available as children become ready. Simple dance moves and actions are added, especially in popular and musical theatre songs, to increase their performance and presentation skills.

Brio singing classes take place on Mondays from 4.35pm – 5.40pm.

Performance Opportunities

Chilton After School Choirs take advantage of a variety of performing opportunities throughout the year.  As well as performing in concerts, they take part in musical exchanges with other schools and offer singing in the community.

CD Recording

Chilton After School Choirs provide an opportunity for the Choirs to participate in a high-quality CD recording session near the end of Term Three.
