Congratulations to our 2010 Scholarship winners, collecting 19 Scholarships between them - 4 with Outstanding Performance.
In addition to sporting, music and dance performance opportunities extending from the core curriculum of the classroom, Chilton Saint James School's co-curricular programme ensures that students achieve a well-rounded education by offering a colourful variety of activities catering to a wide spectrum of interests. Involvement in the co-curricular programme builds a sense of personal competence and is a vital element for young women to lean to do and learn to be herself.
From The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award to barbershop singing, from contemporary dancing and debating to Civil Defence and public speaking, there is an activity for everyone. Wide ranging clubs and societies add to the mix of fun and educational value students gain at Chilton.
Performing Arts enjoys a high profile both within the School and in the wider community. The programme includes first class instrument tuition, choirs, orchestras at Junior and Secondary levels, debating teams and many, many musical and dance groups.
The Chilton Dance Centre and Chilton Music Centre both have an established track-record of excellence and high levels of participation with both Chilton students and boys and girls from the wider community.
The sports arena at Chilton is also impressive, with over 188 sports teams across Summer and Winter sports programmes. The wide range of opportunities truly provides something for everyone’s tastes and talents, while adding a real community feel with parent involvement in coaching and providing that valued taxi service to practices and matches!
Opportunities for Junior School students are equally broad ranging, for example students may become increasingly involved in the Chess Club, the Technology Club and the Mathematics Achievement Challenge Club. By the time they reach Year 6, many will have competed in Australasian Competitions and in the Otago Problem Solving Competition.
