It's not all work and no play at Chilton. Opportunities to extend experiences beyond the classroom are everywhere.
Opportunities for Chilton students to travel on international exchange programmes are available each year to senior students, usually from Year 10.
For example in 2010 students were lucky enough to travel to Singapore, Tokyo and further afield in Japan. Click here to read student accounts, written for the 2010 Chiltonian, for each of the three trips. Reading how their experiences made an impact on each student helps to explain why we believe the exchange programmes aid personal development in a global world.
Students also travel from various overseas locations to spend time in New Zealand at Chilton. Already in 2011 we had 26 students visit us. The year began with our annual visit from Reitaku Mizunami closely followed by students from our sister school in Tokyo, St Dominic’s Girls’ High School. These visits have become a regular feature of our calendar and the Chilton families that open their doors and hearts to these girls return every year for the opportunity.
Later in the year Shanghai No 3 Girls’ High School will visit and during their time at Chilton the girls spend most of their time in classrooms with their host sisters.
Whenever visiting international students are visiting, we always welcome Chilton families to host them. Requests for volunteers will be communicated via the Weekly Bulletin however to volunteer your services for 2011, please email Deputy Principal Student Welfare, Mrs Judy Lang at jlang@chilton.school.nz
