Parents' Association

All parents of Chilton students are eligible to join the Parents' Association.  The PA provides a means for parents to network with one another through social functions, hosts educational forums and undertakes fundraising activities to support the School's goals.

The aims of the Parents' Association are:

• to assist, promote and support the activities and welfare of Chilton Saint James School;
• to promote social activity among parents and guardians of the pupils of the School, to create closer ties between the parents and guardians of the pupils and the teachers of the School;
• to raise funds to fulfil any objects of the Parents’ Association: in particular for the provision of equipment and/or amenities for the benefit of the School and its pupils;
• to promote and enhance the interests and reputation of the School.

Meetings

Meetings are held in the JC Foyer (in the Jubilee Centre on site at Chilton) on roughly a monthly basis, at 7.30pm on a Monday evening during term time.  The meeting dates for 2012 are as follows:

• Monday 14 May
• Monday 18 June
• Monday 6 August
• Monday 17 September
• Monday 12 November

Resources and Information

The Association maintains a library of parenting resources, housed in the Greenwood Wing.  Parents can browse these books at any time the library is open.  The books range from raising toddlers and young children both girls and boys, to teenage issues and how to have a successful relationship with your teenager.  The library is open until 4.45pm each day.

The Association also holds education evenings for parents and students.  The last three forums have covered the issues of alcohol, party pills and study skills.

Support of School awards, such as sponsoring the cups for Service and Citizenship, are also an important part of the Association's role in the School.

An ongoing commitment the Parents' Association make is to fund a phone in the student foyer at School for students to be able to call their parents.

Recent Parents Association Donations

Chilton is very fortunate to have the support of the Parents Association.  In 2011 they have kindly donated furniture for the Year 12 and Year 13 common rooms, Mathematics resource kits for use throughout the Junior School as well as promotional banners, interactive whiteboards, a portable keyboard and amplifier and funds towards implementing WiFi throughout the School.
