Performing Arts Achievements and Success Stories

Hutt Valley Performing Arts Competition Results

Tiana-Mya So’oialo (Year 5)
1st – Song in Costume, 1st – NZ Composer, 2nd – Popular Song

Morgan Belsham (Year 5)
2nd – Musical Theatre, 3rd – Song in Costume, Very Highly Commended – Popular Song, Commended – Vocal Solo

 Dina Clark (Year 9)
1st – NZ Composer, 1st – Scholarship, 1st– Popular Song,
1st – Musical Theatre

Katie Quirke-Luping (Year 9)
Very Highly Commended – NZ Composer and performed highly in six other sections.

 

 

Eleanor Deacon (Year 12)
• Violin – Member of the Wellington Regional Sinfonietta Orchestra

Hannah Kennedy (Year 12)
• Violin – Member of the Wellington Regional Sinfonietta Orchestra

Juliette Maurer (Year 11)
• Head Cellist of the Wellington Regional Sinfonietta Orchestra
• Accepted into Wellington Youth Orchestra amongst tertiary level musicians (outstanding for a Year 11 student)
• Accepted into the prestigious New Zealand School of Music Academy programmes
• Attended the Canterbury University Orchestral and Chamber Music course in Oamaru

Kerry McNulty (Year 11)
•Saxophone - Selected for the Wellington Secondary Schools Symphonic Band

Ellie Neal (Year 11)
• Auditioned successfully for the lead role of Dorothy in the Porirua Little Theatre production of The Wizard of Oz, performing five shows a week from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 30 April

Pascale Orchard (Year 10)
• Attended the New Zealand Secondary School Jazz Workshop in Wellington
• Passed Grade 5 Trinity Guildhall Piano Examination with Distinction
• Passed Grade 5 Trinity Guildhall Singing Examination with Distinction

Georgia Quirke-Luping (Year 13)
• Awarded the highest grade and only national scholarship from Speech New Zealand for Public Speaking Grade 8, making her the top Public Speaking candidate at Grade 8 in New Zealand

 

Jessica Williams (Year 12)
• Attended a National Singing School in Hawke's Bay among mostly tertiary level and adult singers
• Passed Communicating in Leadership Examination with Honours
• Passed Public Speaking and Communication Examination Grade 7, Module 3 with Honours Plus
• understudy and in the chorus of the Wellington Gilbert and Sullivan’s productions of HMS Pinafore and of Trial by Jury

Rachel Day (left Chilton 2006) - NBR Opera Emerging Artist
Hedda Oosterhoff (left Chilton 2002) - Winner of the inaugural Pettman Dare International Performance Scholarship (PDIPS) in Opera design
Megan Nelson (left Chilton 2009) - Achieved top marks in New Zealand in the Music Scholarship examination

In an internationally competitive art, Chilton Dance Centre students regularly win placement in New Zealand School of Dance Programmes and competitions while also achieving excellent examination results.

Nationally and internationally recognised, Chilton's choral programme involves students at every level in the school.  Chilton's premier choirs are both among the top 16 choirs in New Zealand.
