Sports in the primary years at ChiltonThe fully integrated physical education curriculum is a fundamental feature of the Primary Years Programme at Chilton. From developmental movement to gymnastics, from skills to competition, the educational focus is on stage-appropriate physical activity. Girls participate competitively in Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country from Year 3. At this level organised team sport, including netball and hockey, is introduced and skills developed in Physical Education classes in the gymnasium, on the playing fields and in the school swimming pool are all applied in competition. Further sporting opportunities in Year 5 include touch and flippaball. To test their developing abilities and confirm the importance of social interaction in competition, annual sports exchanges with other independent schools are an established feature of the Year 5 and 6 programmes.
