Music, speech and drama in the primary years at Chilton

Extending the in-class music programmes, Year 1 to 3 students are able to join the Junior Choir. Performance opportunities to share their skills and talents are provided throughout the year. The Year 3 classroom experience is extended by the addition of a new subject, Instrument, which includes the study of the glockenspiel. In Year 3, girls have the opportunity to take Speech and Drama classes and add extra-curricular music lessons.

The Year 4 Instrument programme focuses on the recorder and many girls also take advantage of the opportunity to have Speech and Drama tuition.  Year 4 girls graduate from the Junior Choir into the Year 4-6 choir.  There are opportunities at this level for them to join the Primary Orchestra. The Year 4 recorder programme forms the basis for the Year 5 violin programme and Year 6 students may become senior members of the primary level Choir and Orchestra. The annual production and soirees offer showcases for their emerging talents.
