The International Baccalaureate PYP programme at Chilton

International focus

Chilton offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate from preschool entry (age 3 and 4 years) to the completion of Year 6. Focusing on intercultural understanding and respect for others, the International Baccalaureate programme emphasizes independent thinking, academic rigour and community service.

The PYP programme of the International Baccalaureate allows us to individualise our expectations and to support every student from new entrants through Year 6 in achieving her personal best. The PYP programme offers the fine balance between constantly raising expectations and fostering a sound work ethic while providing supportive scaffolding for learning that establishes our students on the road to success in an international context.

The focus of the PYP programme at Chilton is international. We aim to produce students who are knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced and reflective inquirers, communicators, thinkers and risk-takers. This is the profile of the Chilton student. She is well prepared to move through the secondary levels to become an increasingly curious, collaborative and independent life long learner.

The small classes and rigorous assessment and reporting processes offered at Chilton ensure that our teachers understand and regularly report the capabilities and needs of each student within a caring and outwardly focused international learning community.
