Year 13 at Chilton

Year 13 NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand Scholarship

Chilton?s vertical approach to timetabling at senior level means that girls are able to move flexibly through the NCEA, accelerating in an area of strength if they wish, concentrating on an area of interest without sacrificing breadth and backfilling if they have dropped a subject in error.

Students in Year 13 study a full course for New Zealand University Entrance and Level 3 of the NCEA.  Capable students are encouraged to enter the New Zealand Scholarship examinations.

All Year 13 students take courses in Health & Physical Recreation and Religious Studies and generally select five subjects from the full range available.  Some students elect to take six subjects.  Students may take a combination of subjects at NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3.

One spell of a student?s timetable, as determined by the Deputy Principal Academic, may be replaced by Music Academy or Sports Academy for selected students.
