Their wide repertoire includes sacred, classical, jazz, musical theatre, 20th century and NZ compositions. They perform regularly at civic and community events, as well as special occasions at Parliament, the National War Memorial and Government House. Seraphim is directed by Mr Tom Chatterton, Head of Music.
Seraphim has a long history of successes in numerous competitions. The choir was honoured to perform during the televised 2014 National ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony and Wreath Laying, marking the 99th anniversary of the Gallipoli Landings.
Middle School Choir
The Middle School Choir is a non-auditioned choir for girls from Year 7 to 10. Its aim is to foster a love for choral singing and start to develop good vocal technique and practice. It is an excellent preparation for girls aiming to become part of Seraphim Choir.
The choir covers a wide range of repertoire ranging from musical theatre, classical and popular to jazz. The choir performs at many occasions throughout the year, both within the school and outside at community events. There is also the chance for those girls with soloist potential to perform with the choir.
The choir is co-directed by two capable and experienced choral conductors/specialists: Janey Mackenzie and Jennifer Lawrence.
The Vivace Choir is our top Primary School Choir. The non-auditioned choir is a collection of talented and musical girls from Years 4-6 who perform an eclectic repertoire ranging from traditional Māori waiata to Gospel.
The aims of the group are to promote the benefits of singing to girls in the Primary, to have a choir that showcases our most talented Primary singers and support the school in ever-more-ambitious performances at significant school concerts, services and events.
Vivace Choir is directed by our Primary Specialist Music Teacher, Miss Jennifer Lawrence.
The Korimako Choir is a very special choir that consists of all of our Years 1-3 girls. The aim is to introduce all of the youngest girls in the Primary School to the basics of singing in a fun and engaging way so that they have the ability and enthusiasm to continue making music as they progress through the school.
The Korimako Choir is a wonderful first introduction for many of our girls into the world of performing.
