This music ensemble is open to string players, piano/harpsichord, classical guitar, flute and oboe players who have reached a proficient level. Players are expected to be a member of the Amadeus orchestra.
Students who reach a reasonable standard on their instrument have the opportunity to work in a small music group. Students are placed in suitable ensembles (duets, trios, etc.) tailored to the students’ level whose musical styles range from classical to jazz or popular. Mr Chatterton is happy to suggest groupings and recommend repertoire.
This group is open to singers, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar, bass and drum/percussion players, who are proficient on their instrument and enjoy playing jazz music.
Ably led by one of our teaching staff our Kapa Haka group learn waiata for welcomes and other special occasions, Māori greetings and phrases, poi and weaving. Having already performed at a number of public events the profile of this group continues to increase.
Middle School Rock Band
Students who are learning a musical instrument or singing are welcome to join our rock band. These students may be eligible to enter the Smokefree Rockquest or inter-school Battle of the Bands competitions
Primary School Rock Band
The Primary School Rock Band may take place in 2019, dependent on numbers. Please contact Mr Chatterton for expressions of interest.
Miss Lawrence will be running the ukulele club on Tuesday lunchtimes for Middle School students. This provides students with an opportunity to perform repertoire for the ukulele and singing as a fun group, and later in the year explore some song-writing.
Our Arts Captain and Deputy Arts Captain are running a new student-led choir this year, open to girls in Y7-13. Mr Chatterton will be accompanying the group.
