After weeks of hard work and preparation, Chilton’s Seraphim Choir successfully participated in The Big Sing Wellington Regional Festival on Tuesday 19th June in the Michael Fowler Centre. The girls did an excellent job with their three pieces: ‘A Charm for Rain’ by David Hamilton, ‘L’onde est endormie’ by César Cui and ‘Great Day’ arranged by Howard Helvey. The Seraphim choir was in excellent voice with their signature mature and full sound present throughout all three pieces.
The afternoon session is where the competition element takes place for The Big Sing, with a final concert at the end of the day where every choir presents one piece again to an audience of parents and supporters. The girls did themselves justice in the competition and at the end of the evening the girls were presented with an Adjudicator’s certificate to acknowledge the inspired performance of ‘Great Day’.
Many congratulations to all the girls in Seraphim for their dedication to the choir. Hearing them in performance on Tuesday confirmed Seraphim’s place as one of the top girls’ choir in the region and we look forward to 25th June, when National Finale 2018 (in Wellington this year) places are announced.
Thank you to Mrs Newton for her assistance with organising the girls at The Big Sing and for her ongoing management of Seraphim. A huge thank you also to Mrs Hanify for her excellent direction of Seraphim Choir.
