Speech and Drama – Maggie Baker

Maggie Baker

LTCL Trinity College London, B.Education. Dip. Teaching Primary

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself, an Oral Communication Teacher joining the teaching community of Chilton St James School.

My name is Maggie Baker and it is with great excitement and much enthusiasm that I am able to offer to students, opportunities to participate in Trinity College of London International Acting and Speaking exams this year during 2019. Enrolments are now open for Primary and Senior students.

I am an experienced Registered Teacher of Speech and Drama, an accomplished private operator with over 30 years experience, in teaching Trinity College of London syllabus including; Speech and Drama, Vocal Management, Communication Skills, ESOL, Vocational Speaking and Performing Arts. I have a background in Television and amateur theatre.

Why Speech and Drama?

Speech and Drama offers an interactive and rich learning field, where students will develop skills that show confidence and awareness in the art of oral speaking. Their engagement, enjoyment and accomplishments in the arts can also support the development of positive views of themselves e.g.,

“It’s really fun and I enjoy using my imagination.”

“It helped a lot with performing and public speaking.”

“I now feel even more confident in my speaking and acting skills.”

My primary goal is to help students experience success at their level, be creative, build their self-confidence and have fun in their learning journey. I offer individual, pair and small group lessons. Examination dates with Trinity occur 3 times per year.

Candidates for solo and pair exams additionally undertake various tasks that enable them to display supporting skills such as sight reading, storytelling and improvisation.

Study Grants 2019 – Each year, Trinity College London’s Aotearoa New Zealand office offers a limited number of national Study Grants. Applications for the 2019 round close on Friday 12 April.

Trinity provide opportunities to teach a wide range of disciplines and students are able to move through the International syllabus opting to choose which discipline interests and suits them best. Such is the range of study options available in Drama & Performance subjects, Grade, Certificate and Diploma qualifications. Qualification points gained are cross credited to the British Qualifications Authority. While candidates may enter at any grade they choose, the syllabus is designed to provide a structured framework for progressive development of skills over time.

I will be working onsite at Chilton St James School and withdrawing students for lessons during and after school. For enrolments, fees and enquiries please call me and I will be happy to answer your questions.

Kind regards,

Maggie
